From Dumaguete to Bantayan

I have been travelling with Mark since Thursday, March 12. We started our road trip in Dumaguete.

Went to the other side of Negros- Silay City.  Silay was once called the Paris of the Orient in the 1800's. I had high hopes for the place.

Dreaming of coffee shops in what I thought was a quaint little town , I got somehow disappointed by the "sight and sound" of tricycles.

Yes,  the city had it's glory.

One could see old houses and newly renovated century-old establishments.

We walked around.
Visited ancestral houses.

Like the Hofilena's ...

... and the Balay Negrense.

Inspite of it's charm slowly marred by the tricycles...

Silay has retained its laid back character.

And I wonder, is "progress" all worth it?
